Before release
Prepare storage, accounts, display settings, accessibility options, and spoiler preferences before launch day. None of these checks require story knowledge.
Console-side checks
Storage — keep enough headroom for the base install, launch updates, captured clips, and the console's temporary working space. Pre-download begins November 12, 2026 at local midnight (see how to preload GTA 6 and the GTA 6 file size status pages). Rockstar has not announced a download size, so do not rely on a rumor.
Accounts — update the console, sign in to the account that owns the game, confirm family-sharing rules, and test the payment or redemption region before launch traffic peaks. PlayStation download codes are region-tied; Xbox codes are not.
Display and access — set HDR, subtitles, text size, audio range, controller options, and accessibility preferences in advance; revisit them once the game exposes its own menu.
Timing — release day is November 19, 2026. Rockstar has not announced an unlock hour; see GTA 6 release time by country for pre-load times in your time zone.
Spoiler perimeter — set your Field Guide chapter and spoiler cap before searching for help, then raise it only when your save has moved forward.

The Extended Look aired August 27, 2026. Rockstar states it was captured from PlayStation 5 in-game footage. It does not itself confirm missions, mechanics, or PC details.
